Wellness Is Wealth
It’s more than just a doctor’s clean bill of health
The body has the capacity to heal itself. As in the olden times, there were no advanced, futuristic practices applied to measure one’s health. The body was treated like a machine that performed well: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” But with the advent of technology comes the upgrade in lifestyle. And while humanity is striving to ‘improve’ life on a daily basis with the goal of ‘making life easier’, humans are actually inadvertently introducing more harm to their already well-oiled machines - their bodies.
However, not everyone is born with a healthy body. Some have to deal with congenital and/or hereditary conditions that affect their lives temporarily or forever, and there are others who are immunocompromised since birth. They need to be supported to help boost their immune system so that they can realize their full potential, in spite of their medical conditions. Then there are those blessed with healthy genes that pass all health checklists with flying colors. But are they really healthy in the true sense of the word?
There are health and fitness programs left and right to choose from, depending on one’s body and health status. Some of these programs include clinical assessments followed by investigations that often overwhelm the individual.
Perhaps one should look beyond the physiological aspects in defining health. A clean bill of health from a physician and clear lab tests results are not enough basis for one’s wellness. While these may be helpful in determining targeted physical issues in one’s body and applying the appropriate medical cure, they don’t address the issue in a holistic sense.
Aside from the physical cure for one’s symptoms and ailments, there should be more questions to ask and learn from.
The book - ‘The 10 W’s to Wellness: Insights from Homeopathy’ covers health beyond physiology. It illustrates how, as a ripple effect, overall health of one individual has the scope to enhance the health of a community as well as a nation. The book encourages readers to ask the right questions to address their health issues beyond the physical.
