This book tells the story of Olly the Otter. Olly lives in a world much like ours: busy and filled with screens, likes, comments, and expectations. Caught up in this world, Olly wonders if there’s anything he can do to find greater happiness. He decides to try something new: he puts down his phone and starts to interact with the world around him. As he does, he finds another otter in distress. Someone had said mean things about this otter and made him feel bad. Choosing to do the right thing, Olly comforts, uplifts, and encourages his new friend, telling him that what makes him different may just be his strength! Their newfound friendship then inspires change in their world–one filled with fewer screens and much more happiness. You can follow in Olly’s footsteps and inspire positive change in your world too!

Jonathan grew up reading the wonderful works of children’s books authors such as Dr. Seuss, Eric Carle, and Shel Silverstein. Inspired by the artistry and messages of these authors, Jonathan wanted to make a similar positive impact on the rising generation. His inspiration came to him while on a study abroad trip to the Amazon Rainforest where he saw giant river otters who stood nearly 6 feet tall!

Soon after identifying the main character for the story, the words and message came to Jonathan one night by what he deems inspiration. With a plot in place, Jonathan reached out to his brilliant, talented, and artistic friend, Hayden, to bring the story to life. Jonathan and Hayden hope that their story can help children find hope, mindfulness, and meaning in a world of overstimulation.
