What If I Was the Storm? is about a twelve- to thirteen-year-old-girl who was in a very mentally abusive relationship but didn't realize it until it was too late. She struggled with it for a year and had no idea how to cope.

After the abuser decides she's not good enough anymore, he leaves, and everything she does reminds her of how much of a terrible person she is.

But is she a terrible person? Or was she tricked into believing that? She slowly found out writing poetry was an escape to everything happening in her life at that moment. How mentally abused do you have to be to write a book about it?

Jeko McCarter is a fourteen-year-old poet. She has a sickness called Chiari malformation, but that doesn't stop her from doing her day-to-day activities. At thirteen, she had brain surgery, but that didn't stop her from writing poetry. What If I Was the Storm? is her first book ever written.She wrote it after realizing she had been mentally abused by someone she thought never would. She was born and raised in Nebraska. In the future, she hopes to write a lot more books about anything she can think about.
