Total amount:

The Camino de Santiago, also known as the Way of St. James, is a network of pilgrimages leading to the shrine of the apostle Saint James the Great in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain. This ancient pilgrimage route truly welcomes everyone, regardless of age, background, gender, ethnicity, religion, or physical ability. This book is intended to welcome an important group that is often overlooked, our children. These stories of the Camino will share with the children many aspects about the pilgrimage, including history, traditions, towns and villages, cathedrals, albergues, food, and much more. Intended to be read to the children by their loving adults, this book is at a reading level appropriate for a second-year reader. Included in each story at the end is a vocabulary list of new words with definitions.

For all the children who will one day walk a pilgrimage, Buen Camino.

Dr. Guylene Gigi Tree, an enthusiastic and numerous times walker of Caminos, is the author of the Camino de Santiago book series “The End of the Earth.” As a retired educator, Dr. Tree is an advocate for the concept that education is the cornerstone of a successful society. In this first children’s book on the Camino, her hope is to expose young children to the beauty of the pilgrimage, the historical role it has played in the world, as well as presenting knowledge which will foster critical thinking skills in young minds. Dr. Tree resides with her husband Mark, one happy dog and one mischievous cat, in Arizona.

About the Illustrator:

Steve Walther is perhaps the world’s largest Camino geek. He loves all things Camino related. Steve spent several years living and painting in Spain and has walked many different Camino routes. He is the author of “Sacred Blisters,” a book about the history, mystery, and lessons he learned while walking on the Camino de Santiago. With his drawings, Steve hopes to engage and motivate children to learn about the Camino and eventually walk their own pilgrimage. Steve lives in Eagle, Idaho, with his wife Maria, one old cat, a small flock of chickens, and a field full of sheep at “Maria’s Goathead Acres Chicken Ranch.”
