The book entitled "Music In Our Lives: My Life In Music And The People Who Inspired It" is about my life as an artist, musician, teacher and spiritual seeker. It is about growing up in Oakland California and about my school life and college life. It's about the cities of Oakland, Portland, Oregon, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and New York City. It's about all the wonderful artists, musicians and people I have been able to work with. I talk about some of my personal, life, my children, my wives, my love affairs, my triumphs and my failures. In this book also are profiles and/or reviews on some of the great practitioners of Black American music such as Duke Ellington, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder and many others. With this book, I hope to inspire up and coming music students and entertain and reminisce with old veteran musicians. This book is about music, life, love and great people.

Rudi Mwongozi was born in Oakland California on May 17 1952. He entered the ranks of professional musician during his college years in the early 70s. Since then he has performed and taught. Recently he moved to Ghana West Africa and that is where he wrote his first full; length book on music called "Music In Our Lives: My Life In Music And The People Who Inspired It"
