Melanie Egunza has lived in the suburbs of Seattle, Washington for the majority of her life. She began writing when she was around 13 years old and is currently working towards her Bachelor’s degree in English. Looking Up with Open Arms is an accumulation of the highs, lows, growing up, and worldview development that’s brought her up to be the person she is today.

A young woman navigating how to live out her Catholic faith and the challenges of life has never been easy, but with poetry, she finds the journey is undeniably beautiful. One day, she hopes to share her love for self expression through words with her future students.
