LP Daboss was born in 2011, in South Central Los Angeles. She began with telling people that it was her name. She made it her social media handle. She told her teacher, her peers, her family, Starbucks, Jamba juice, she believed she was then, and so she is. Our names hold more power than we know. We subconsciously program ourselves to become what we call ourselves. Sometimes, other people call us "fat", "stupid", "beautiful". Over the years, she has called herself many things, but Boss has been constant, successful has been a constant that overpowered all temporary subscriptions. In 2013, She joined the U.S Navy in hopes of being independent and with strong thoughts of serving 20 years. In 2017, she hit unsubscribe to the first Self defeating ideology. All it takes is one, one step, one idea, one decision, and once you pull that thread. It will unravel in diving timing. She completed her year of service in 2018 and got out of the military. However, the first step she made was to change her life, rather consciously or not, was to shift her paradigm, to plant the seed in her head that she was a boss. She always created her own path, her own destiny without waiting for someone to create it for her. Poetry is just the first stop on that path, keep your eyes out for the next.
