This book was written with the reader in mind. Also, the collaboration of internal thoughts and first-hand experience was my driving focus. Within this book, I focus on ways to improve healthy eating habits, discipline, and trusting God to lead the way. Eating healthy and making lifestyle changes all starts with a mindset shift. This book also focuses on portion control and making better choices. It serves as a great tool allowing one to maintain accountability and to find peace and joy in doing so. This book has really helped to discipline me and keep me on the right path to having a successful weight loss journey.

Hello my name is Maxine Janet Brown. I was born in a rural area on the Eastern Shore of Virginia in 1962. Since then I have witnessed many milestones and changes all of which have brought forth much wisdom, strength, and knowledge. My parents were great and always cherished family, spirituality, and hard work. I will forever miss the late Jean and Jessie Brown! I am the oldest of five siblings; Nancy, Shirley, Jessie Jr., and Rebecca whom all of them I love and adore. Each of them represents a different yet unique personality. I am the proud mother of a very amazing daughter who I like to call a trailblazer-Chantel Williams, a very dedicated and hardworking son-in-law- Alexander Williams Jr. From their union I was blessed with my first grandchild- Alexander Williams III (Tre'). They are very dear to me.

I received my elementary and secondary education in Accomack County Public Schools. I then went on to further my education by receiving my Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education from the Eastern Shore Community College in 2004. Very early in life I accepted that my spiritual gift was teaching, because I was given the responsibility to care for my siblings while my parents were at work. It also gave me the experience of working with other people and finding out what their interests were. Following my degree completion at ESCC, I decided to pursue my education a little
further and became a student at the University of Cincinnati's distance learning/online program. I received a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education in 2007. This was amazing year, because my daughter also received her bachelor's degree from Virginia State University in Computer Information Systems. We are each other's biggest accountability partner! Over the years I have had the privilege of teaching in various capacities to include but not limited to day care, learning centers, public schools, home based, church, etc. I am currently apart of the Wicomico County Public School district. I enjoy teaching and helping all who I encounter, as well as therapeutic walks and outings with my loyal fur-baby Bentley.

Throughout my journey, I often had weight gain challenges, and one day I decided that to see a change, I would need to start from within. I began my healthy eating and daily lifestyle change. When I had started my healthy lifestyle change, I received so much motivation and support, as my peers were beginning to see the results and began to inquire. Those inquiries have inspired me to create my lifestyle plan to better assist and offer an overall visual of the process and steps that one must take. In conclusion, everything that has happened in my life thus far leads up to the book, Walking in Divine Health Gracefully, because I am able to reach out and advise people about their healthy lifestyle options.
